EXHIBITION: 7th December 2021 to 28th February 2022 (Online)

A small sculptural work by John relating to the Outer Hebrides has been selected for the Uig Open 2021/22.

This winter, Hulabhaig gallery on the Isle of Lewis will be exhibiting 70 artworks from 60 artists exploring the Western Isles’ connections from the local to the global.

A Mermaid’s Purse was conceived and constructed earlier this year inventing a mythical relationship between creatures of sea and air, but also linking the distant beaches of Nantucket USA with these remote Scottish islands.

Crafted from lead, and containing a hidden blackbird skull, this small work will be available for sale with proceeds from all artworks sold helping to support this important curatorial project for the Western Isles.

Please visit Hulabhaig below to view the artworks selected this year and consider buying from one of the contemporary artists featured in this fascinating show.

Congratulations to artists Alice Macmillan, Fraser Macbeath and Sarah Bold for their award-winning pieces and to Gill Russell for Lost Ships, a personal favourite.
