The peripatetic sculpture of an OS trig point constructed during lockdown has reappeared in Liverpool city centre.

PYLON is a 1:1 scale model of a Hotine Pillar, the classic Triangulation Pillar or ‘Trig point’ created by the Ordnance Survey in 1936. In 2021 artist John Elcock recreated the trig point as a portable sculpture titled Pylon, exploiting its interesting capacity to draw attention to specific loci in a unique and powerful way.
